NAV Canada Hiring in Vancouver

Currently, NAV Canada is looking for multiple Air Traffic Controller career positions, who are responsible for many things at airports, most especially coordinating “the safe, efficient and orderly flow of air traffic.”

There are two different careers that are available, including area controllers and tower controllers. Area controllers are based out of Area Control Centres (ACCs), which look after air traffic in a large section of Canadian airspace. For this position, you’d be working at Vancouver ACC.

Tower controllers instead have a direct view of the airport and aircraft. They use radio communication to issue instructions and clearances. 9 of the 42 towers are in Vancouver FIR: Prince George, Kelowna, Victoria, Vancouver Harbour, Boundary Bay, Pitt Meadows, Langley, Abbotsford, and Vancouver.

Application Requirements

  • Be at least 18-years-old or older
  • Have your high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Clear verbal communication skills
  • Memorization and teamwork skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities
  • Willing to relocate to any locations where air traffic controllers work

Training is included for both positions, with durations depending on which career stream you apply for.

Qualified area controllers can receive a salary between $143,513 to $207,450; training salaries start between $58,606 to $61,337. Qualified tower controllers can receive $104,258 to $207,450, and training salaries are between $58,606 to $61,337.
