Due to high levels of bacteria in the water, neither swimming or wading are not recommended.
On June 29th, the Vancouver Park Board also announced that Sunset Beach was closed to swimmers due to high E.coli levels.
Trout Lake Closure
Under current guidelines, less than 200 E.coli bacteria per 100 mL of water is recommended before swimming is safe.
On Wednesday, July 17th, the Metro Vancouver Beach Water Quality Report found that Trout Lake’s E.coli level is hovering close to 285 bacteria per 100 mL of water.
High levels of E.Coli bacteria in the water increase risk of gastro-intestinal illness to swimmers.
At this moment, the public is asked to respect signs placed at the beach.
