Food has a way of bringing back the strongest of memories. The scent, the taste, and the look, it has us recalling our younger days when we always knew that there would be a delicious dish waiting for us at home.

Looking to recapture that sensation is Yunqueen Rice Noodles, a brand-new rice noodle restaurant that’s here to bring all that childhood nostalgia flooding back.

Vancouver’s First Outpost

Yunqueen first began as a feeling of missing home. It was that which brought Yunqueen into the world, longing for the familiar tastes of Yunnan’s rich and steaming noodle broths. Now, they’re bringing those authentic flavours to Vancouver, inspired by the city’s love for ramen and pho.

Yunqueen is a new venture under the well-established brand Qicai Yunnan. Qicai Yunnan’s signature rice noodles have been enjoyed by many for the over 40 years they’ve been in business, and with Yunqueen as their first West Coast outpost, Vancouverites will now be able to try their delicious noodles.

Rich In Flavour And History

With Head Chef Huang Jingkun leading the kitchen, Yunqueen is in more than good hands. He’s not only one of Yunnan’s 5-star Platinum Chefs, but he has also been named among Beijing’s Top Ten Chefs. His over 30 years of expertise mean that your bowl of noodles is going to be decorated with delicious flavours and a long history of talent.

All of Yunqueen’s broths are cooked fresh daily, simmered each morning to assure that everything is as satisfying as can be. A good broth is a balm for the soul and body, and Yunqueen knows that well with their three distinct types.

  • Golden Guoqiao Broth – aromatic and savory.
  • Beef Bone Broth – full-bodied, rich yet clear, and made with Alberta beef bones.
  • Chicken & Pork Broth – delicate and lighter, and a little sweeter.

But that’s not all– silky rice noodles are then added to these broths, as well as thinly-sliced meats and fresh vegetables. The final touches come with an array of toppings, giving you a meal that is rooted deeply in Yunnan and personalized to your liking.

Classics And Seasonal Delights

If it all sounds so delicious that you can’t decide on one single thing, then why not try Yunqueen’s signature dish? The Golden Broth Guoqiao Rice Noodles combine a 13-step broth and those perfect noodles in a 200°C stone bowl. This makes sure that the dish stays nice and hot until you’re finished.

For the winter, Yunqueen has some amazing dishes to keep the cold away all throughout the snowy months.

The main feature of their winter menu is the Small Pot Rice Noodle, a Yunnan classic. With a bone-and-soy jiang broth, this fully-customizable dish is built around a menu that’s perfect for customers to fill out. You can choose your spice level, noodle options, and 16 toppings to select from!

And for those who like a kick, you can indulge in a variety of their spicy braised small dishes.
