As of now, anyone who wants to dine at their favourite participating B.C. restaurant, will be able to bring their favourite wine with them!
Restaurant patrons will still be required to serve your wine in the same manner they would serve wine that is selected off their menu, and they may charge a corkage fee for that service ranging from $10 – $50. Will the price of the corkage fee discourage people from bringing in their cheaper bottle of wine? The British Columbia Restaurant and Food Service Association believe that this option will encourage more people to dine out.
More business means more positive economic impacts, such as increased employment, and benefits for restaurant suppliers, as well for those eating out, who will finally be able to eat their favourite meal, at their favourite restaurant, while getting to enjoy their favourite wine!
Will you be bringing your favourite bottle of wine with you the next time you eat out?
