The second wind warning within the week is in effect for metro Vancouver today, with the previous causing hefty damage and power outages.
Strong winds are expected to arrive this afternoon and can potentially cause damage according to wind warning issued by Environment Canada.
An intensifying low pressure system off the Washington Coast will cross the southern tip of Vancouver Island late this afternoon. Strong southeast winds near 60 km/h today will shift to southwest by this evening and gust up to 90 km/h over southern sections of Greater Victoria, Southern Gulf Islands, Metro Vancouver, and the Fraser Valley. Winds will ease overnight as the low weakens and moves into the BC Interior.
The release adds that damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
