While Blackcomb Mountain is still hosting skiers and snowboarders, Whistler Mountain is gearing up to allow bikers to hit the dirt beginning Friday, May 20.
With some help from Mother Nature, the trails look to be in excellent condition. The entire Fitzsimmons Zone will also be accessible for riders.
The park will open at 9:00am with Giant Bicycles handing out free lift tickets to the first 35 riders to show up on their Giant bikes between 9:00am and 10:00pm at the base of Whistler Mountain. Giant also plans to host an autograph session from 12:00pm – 1:00pm in Skier’s Plaza, featuring sponsored athletes Josh Carlson, Reese Wallace, and Katie Holden.
From May 20 through June 10, Whistler Mountain Bike Park will operate from 10am to 5pm on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 10am to 8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Operating hours will extend from 10am to 8pm daily starting June 11. Upload on May 20 will be via the Fitzsimmons Express Chair, with the Whistler Village Gondola opening for the season on May 21.
In addition, the Creek Zone and Garbanzo Zone will open on June 18 with access via the Creekside Gondola (operating from 10:00am – 5:00pm daily June 18 – September 5) and Garbanzo Express Lift. Raven’s Nest, the restaurant situated at the top of Creekside Gondola will open later this summer.
