Weather Warning Calls For Up To 15 cm Of Snow For Parts Of Metro Vancouver

After a dry and sunny weekend, the Vancouver weather forecast now calls for snow heading into Tuesday.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for:

  • City of Vancouver – including Burnaby and New Westminster
  • Metro Vancouver – northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge
  • North Shore – including West Vancouver and North Vancouver

An approaching Pacific frontal system will bring precipitation to parts of the Metro Vancouver region Monday. Rain over Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley will “change to wet snow or snow mixed with rain late this afternoon into early evening”.

As for the North Shore, northeast sections of Metro Vancouver and the city of Vancouver, especially over higher terrain, will experience wet snow and a few rain showers or flurries before Tuesday morning. Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are possible over higher terrain.

The Fraser Valley will see a mixture of snow and rain throughout Monday and into Tuesday morning. Total snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are possible before the snow changes to a few rain showers later in the day on Tuesday.
