Vancouver Was (Somehow) Named The 6th Best City In The World To Drive

It may go against popular opinion, but Vancouver was recently ranked the sixth best city in the world for driving.

This comes from a study published by auto parts vendor, Mister Auto, which considered hundreds of countries worldwide.

The study looked at three categories to determine the best driving conditions, including infrastructure, safety, and costs.

Obviously, Mister Auto doesn’t know that traffic congestion here costs TransLink about $75 million a year due to delays, nor our worst drivers and sky-high insurance premiums.

They then considered road and traffic quality, number of fatal accidents and cost of parking and fuel.

Ranking above Vancouver is two Canadian cities; Ottawa took third place, while Calgary was number one in the world.

Bern, Switzerland took fourth place, while El Paso was fifth – making it the only U.S. city to rank in the top 10.

And just below Vancouver is Gothenburg, Sweden along with two German cities and Basel, Switzerland.

But this news may be contrary to what many Vancouverites think of driving in the city.
