It’s no secret that Vancouver is one of the most expensive cities to live in the world and these rental listings prove just that.

$2,000 for a basic Main Street studio

This 538-square-foot apartment may be furnished but it also costs $2,000 and is a studio. While Main Street does have a lot to offer in terms of places to eat, it doesn’t really justify the high rent for a very basic studio apartment.

$2,100 for a private suite in a house in Kits

Over $2,000 for a suite with people living above you. While this Kits suite is furnished, it also has shared laundry facilities. Kits is no doubt a beautiful area to live in with lots of bustling little shops around but to pay over $2,000 for a somewhat shared space isn’t worth it.

$1,025 for studio in Gastown

At first glance it may seem like a steal until you realize it’s 200-square-feet. While Gastown has a lot to offer in terms of bars and restaurants—it doesn’t quite make up for the fact that this condo is seriously lacking. It has a fridge and a sink and that’s about it. If you want to use a full kitchen or bathroom, there’s shared facilities in the building.

$2,800 for 576-square-foot apartment

It costs nearly $3,000 for a two bedroom apartment that is under 600-square-feet, which includes Internet but that’s about it. While we get rent in Vancouver is high, that’s an insane price for such a small space.

$2,650 for a one bedroom apartment downtown

vancouver listings

While having a spot downtown is definitely nice to have, it’s $2,650 for a one bedroom space and is only 550-square-feet in total. Electrical and Internet are also not included in the price making it even more steep. This apartment is way too small for such a hefty price tag despite the location.

$2,395 for two bedroom apartment in Kits

It may have two bedrooms, but the price for this outdated suite shows just how ridiculous Vancouver’s rental market has gotten. It’s larger than the other examples but it’s extremely old and outdated looking which doesn’t make it all too appealing to be shelling out that kind of money for.
