Vancouver General Hospital Gets Another Season On TV

VGH-1

Vancouver isn’t just Hollywood North for blockbuster movies and primetime television. We can produce documentaries too.

Border Security: Canada’s Front Line has featured British Columbia’s air, land and sea points of entry as it follows the work of CBSA officers. Public broadcasting has also found success with Emergency Room: Life + Death at VGH, a gripping emergency room documentary series.

The second season of the show which is filmed at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH)’s emergency department premieres April 12, 2016 at 9pm on British Columbia’s Knowledge Network. Viewers get a glimpse of one of the province’s “busiest emergency departments and the only accredited Level 1 Trauma Centre.” The six-episode second season is complemented by 49 web shorts to highlight the health and social issues of our time.

The show is in partnership with Knowledge Network, Vancouver Coastal Health and Lark Productions. 80 days of unrestricted access and shooting on the emergency department highlight front-line care providers.

Medical television documentaries have been captivating mainstream audiences for years. A&E’s Hoarders, which dives into the world of compulsive hoarding disorders, entered its eight season this year. ABC found repeated summer success with Hopkins, Boston Med and NY Med – all hospital centric documentary series.
