Are Vancouverites Flakey People? (Poll)

Flakey

Recently, a list compiled the friendliest communities in Canada based on hotel reviews; however, Vancouver didn’t make the top 25.

While some people feel that Vancouver isn’t an especially friendly city, some would argue that it is decidedly unfriendly. In addition, a large majority of the city’s residents feel that it is rather flakey, too.

Famous for its “BC Bail,” many locals all too familiar with plans falling through. Whether its making plans, knowing full well that you’ll break them, or simply not even considering that fact, this scenario is commonplace in the city.

In addition, many people find dating extremely difficult in the city, because people that you don’t know may be even more likely to cancel plans. With the advent of online dating, people are more anonymous – it is easier to blow someone off you haven’t seen in the flesh.

Flakey City

Of course, many people think that it isn’t just Vancouver that has commitment issues. Indeed, many posit that this is simply a big city issue; a part of living in a fast-paced metropolitan jungle.

Similarly, some argue that flakiness increases with age. Teenagers may have all the time in the world, but strap into a career, or add a child, and suddenly time becomes rather tight.

With the worst housing market in national history, some people may simply not have the funds to go out. As a result, saving some cash could be a very real reason why some people opt to stay home.

Do you think Vancouver has a flakiness issue? If so, how much and to how much of a degree? Also, do you think that this issue is particular to Vancouver, or is it prevalent in most major metropolitan centres?
