Arrow and The Flash, both filmed in Vancouver, rounded out the top five most-pirated television shows worldwide for 2015. This is the third consecutive year that Arrow made the Top Ten List of BitTorrent TV show downloads. It’s also the show’s highest ranking so far at fourth with The Flash at fifth. Both action-superhero series are based on comic book characters from the DC Comics universe.
They both also belong to The CW network which has found renewed success with its new wave of programming. Arrow is a spin-off from The CW’s previous Superman-origin series Smallville which was filmed in various locations around the province. The current success of Arrow which follows the Green Arrow character and introduces other characters has given way to other spin-offs as well.
The first spin-off from Arrow was The Flash in 2014 which also had a one season run on CBS in 1990. The Arrow spin-offs continued in 2015 with the release of the animated series Vixen and development of Legends of Tomorrow which premieres January 21st, 2016. With Legends of Tomorrow, also being filmed in Vancouver, The CW may have a superhero-trifecta on its hands.
The legal drama series Suits on USA Network, which is filmed in Toronto, ranked tenth on the most downloaded list.
