Uber Continues To Recruit Vancouver Drivers Through Social Media

Uber Launches New Petition To Enter British Columbia - Uber Continues To Recruit Vancouver Drivers Through Social Media

Uber has been a hot topic in Vancouver this Fall as the company seeks to expand into the lower mainland.

Uber is an app-based transportation network and taxi company which operates in 53 countries and over 200 cities worldwide. The company uses their smartphone application to receive ride requests and forward them to their drivers in the area.

A lot of Vancouverites have expressed they want Uber in the city for its convenience and slightly cheaper rates. However, many others have expressed concern due to the fact Uber drivers are non-regulated drivers which goes against the Transportation laws set out in British Columbia.

Just last month, Transportation Minister Todd Stone announced undercover B.C. agents dressed in normal clothes would target unlicensed Uber drivers and fine them.

Since then, Uber has fought back and even started a petition of their own to expand into Vancouver.

While keeping quiet for the past few weeks, Uber has once again surfaced in Vancouver, continuing their recruitment for Vancouver drivers online through Facebook. The following sponsored posts circulated their way through timelines encouraging Vancouverites to become a driver and earn up to $20 an hour.
