The Khaykery bakeshop is whipping up a decadent treat that they call “a distant cousin of macarons.”
If you haven’t tried silvanas—it’s time to add them to your foodie bucket list. They consist of two cashew meringue wafers sandwiched together with a flavoured buttercream in between.
They’re then coated with a variety of items, including cookie crumbs, dried fruits or cookie crumbs. It’s recommended to chill them to get that perfect chewy texture.
The Khaykery was started a self-taught baker/cake-artist named Khay. Despite graduating with a degree in Computer Science, Khay discovered a passion for baking later in life, after wanting to bake a cake for her son’s birthday. She then decided to pursue her passion, and Vancouver’s bakery scene is very thankful she did.
The Khaykery offer different flavours every month, so there’s always something new to try.
Best-selling flavours include: ube, matcha green tea pistachio and cookies n’ cream. But they have much more, like bacon bits, mocha, pina colada, banana, rocky road and salted caramel.
Pair them with a cup of tea or just have them all on their own—they won’t disappoint.
