The Holiday Season Comes Early To Vancouver

The Holiday Season Comes Early To Vancouver

Even though Halloween is still more than a week away, stores have been stocking up on the seasonal wintery supplies. Yes, winter is apparently right around the corner for some stores.

There’s one aisle with Halloween costumes and another with festive winter decorations and wrapping paper. Stores could have at least waited until November 1, right? When everyone has their Halloween hangovers, the winter season is probably slowly creeping into their minds. It doesn’t even matter that the first day of winter isn’t until December 21. For some people winter starts after October ends. So, be prepared to say “good-bye” to pumpkin spice and say “hello” to eggnog and peppermint.

You could buy a wreath, ornaments, random snowy owl decor right now at the same time that things like Halloween costumes, large packs of assorted candy and chocolate, and skeleton figurines are still being sold. If you want a head start on your holiday shopping, then now would probably be a good time to go.

While everyone else is focused on Halloween, you could be preparing for the next holiday season. But, right now, it’s not even the end of October and there are still other things in your mind besides getting ahead on holiday shopping.

There are still parties to go to, costumes to plan, candy to eat and midterms to study for, so sometimes you don’t have the time.

It’s this weird mix of autumn and winter that seems to be waiting for the end of October to make the transition into the next season.

But what do you think? Is it a bit early to start putting winter themed items on shelves?
