The Stanley Cup will be in town this Sunday!
Professional hockey’s most iconic trophy, the Stanley Cup, is coming to town and is spending the day with Dobro’s son Milan, a member of the 2011 Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins.
“I feel good,” said Dobro. “This is something special. It doesn’t happen very often.”
Under a well-established tradition, the trophy travels to the hometown of each member of the team that wins the Stanley Cup Final.
This past June, the Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-0 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final.
Since it was won by the Bruins, the Stanley Cup has travelled to U.S. states and Canadian provinces like Montana, Massachusetts, California and Ontario.
It has also travelled to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Finland.
Dobro said his son is planning a private event and family from as far away as Toronto, San Diego and Los Angeles are expected to attend the celebration.
He also expects friends and some former coaches to be there, too.
