One of Vancouver’s most beloved restaurants is levelling up and this time, it’s bringing the heat (literally) to Coal Harbour.
Social Corner is opening its brand-new flagship location on September 3rd at 1055 W Hastings (right across from Fairmont Pacific Rim), and it’s easily one of the most ambitious restaurant launches Vancouver’s seen in a while.
From the team behind Per Se Hospitality Group, this new 290-seat stunner isn’t just bigger, it’s bolder, brighter, and packed with personality. With Canada’s largest gold-plated Neapolitan pizza oven, a show-stopping patio, and one of the city’s most food-forward menus, this is not your typical downtown spot.
A Neighbourhood Favourite, Now on the Waterfront
If you’ve been to the original Social Corner in Yaletown, you already know the vibe: European energy, high-design interiors, and a menu that feels like summer vacation in every bite. The Coal Harbour location takes that same spirit and dials it way up.
The new space spans two patios, one seasonal Mediterranean-style patio anchored by a 7-tonne custom limestone fountain, and another covered, year-round patio with four 72-inch fireplaces for cozy brunches and cocktail-fuelled evenings.
The interior design is just as jaw-dropping, blending heritage character with Mediterranean luxury. Look out for:
-
Nine hand-sculpted Roman statues from a local Italian artist
-
A Murano glass chandelier from Venice in the private dining room
-
And a refurbished 130-year-old General Electric radio, reborn as the hostess stand
All of it pulled together by Per Se founder and creative force, Fabrizio Foz (“Fab”), in collaboration with Mansouri Design + Build.
“We wanted to create a space that feels like it’s always been here,” Fab says. “Something lived-in, textured, and full of life.”
The Food: Big Flavours, Bigger Comfort
Let’s get into the food, because honestly, that’s where Social Corner really shines.
This new flagship brings back all the hits: the Michelin-recommended burger (often named the best in BC, dare we say Canada), their signature paella, and those hand-tossed pizzas that come bubbling hot out of that iconic gold oven.
But there are some new Coal Harbour exclusives that take things to a whole new level:
-
Oysters + Seafood Towers: A tribute to the space’s oceanside roots, perfect for sharing.
-
Fresh Caviar: Served with all the classic accoutrements — yes, they’re going full luxe.
-
Pescado Frito: A whole dry-fried market fish with bold citrus-forward seasoning and crisp texture — a coastal Spanish staple reimagined for the Vancouver palate.
The flavours lean Mediterranean, but always stay approachable, think comfort meets coastal elegance, with a generous dash of drama.
Whether you’re in for brunch, an afternoon aperitivo, or a late-night wine-and-pizza run, the menu has something for every craving.
A Welcome Jolt for Coal Harbour
Coal Harbour isn’t exactly known for its dining scene, at least, not until now.
This new flagship aims to change that. It’s part of a broader redevelopment of the Guinness Tower by Oxford Properties, with a goal of re-energizing the waterfront neighbourhood with more pedestrian life, local business, and hospitality.
Alongside the launch of Ciclo Café & Cocktail Bar (also by Per Se Hospitality Group and opening the same day in the adjacent MNP Tower), the two spaces form a new kind of anchor point, the kind that makes Coal Harbour feel more lived-in, less touristy, and finally worth lingering in after 5 p.m.
Social Corner Coal Harbour is a lot of things: a design marvel, a love letter to Mediterranean cooking, and a bold step forward for Vancouver’s food scene.
But above all, it’s a place built for people, real people, sharing real food, in one of the city’s most iconic settings.
