It feels like mother nature is skipping a season in Metro Vancouver these past couple of days.

On Monday, September 18th, a freak hailstorm pummelled Coquitlam’s streets and rooftops; primarily on Burke Mountain.

Some people had to duck for cover has the massive pellets hammered down from above.

Snow or a Hailstorm in Coquitlam?

After an unusually hot summer, people were aghast to see the hail coming down in droves. Many residents took to social media to document the rare occurrence, and many were convinced that the hail was actually snow.

As the hail continued to stick to the ground, it certainly had the appearance of snow. Some of the hail accumulated in piles that made it look even more snow-like.

Other parts of the province were calling for snow yesterday, including many places in British Columbia’s southern interior.

Whistler’s webcam captured Blackcomb’s first snowfall yesterday, and skiers and snowboards also took to social media to rejoice in its appearance.
