Step aside, Disneyland. Revelstoke will be opening its very own adventure park that could rival the national treasure—by being more than nine times its size.
Except you won’t find Mickey Mouse here.
While it’s not a typical amusement park, it’s more focused on outdoor activities. That aspect alone makes it the perfect fit for the BC lifestyle. It will likely become a hotspot for locals and tourists alike.
The BC government has just approved the 321-hectare adventure park, and it is set to begin construction this Spring. The first phase of the park could open as early as Summer of 2018. The project will take about five years to fully complete, but will be worth the wait!
Revelstoke Adventure Park will feature many thrilling attractions including: rock climbing, bungee jumping, fishing, canoeing, mountain biking, horseback riding, tree top adventures, mountain coasters, paragliding, zip lines and much more.
Beyond that, there will be a network of trails, and spots for camping onsite. The camping area will also include yurts and an RV park.
They will eventually build a helipad, gazebos, and even a gondola or chairlift.
The park will put Revelstoke on the map as being a major tourism destination.
“Outdoor recreation has always been a big part of Revelstoke. The proposed adventure park will add more outstanding outdoor recreation opportunities for residents and visitors in the region, as well as create local jobs,” said Steve Thomson, Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations.
A cool $10-million has already been invested in the project, and it could reach a total of $100-million by its completion date.
Located in southeastern British Columbia, Revelstoke is 641kms from Vancouver, making it just a short road trip away.
