Another day, another television reporter is interrupted by pedestrians – however this time it was physical.
CBC news reporter Megan Batchelor was in Squamish last Friday covering the Squamish Valley Music Festival when a young man suddenly interrupted the segment and proceeded to kiss Batchelor on the cheek, while trying to take a selfie.
Batchelor says she was “rattled” by the situation, and felt as though the man was trying to interfere with her ability to do her job. The CBC is reporting that Batchelor has filed a complaint to the RCMP, and the network is asking the public for help in identifying the man and reporting his name to the police.
Interrupting or “video bombing” news reporters has become a popular internet prank over the past years, but isn’t the wisest stunt to pull when you’re feeling overly jolly. Just earlier this year, a Toronto resident who video bombed a reporter and made crude remarks ended up losing his job as a result of his employer facing social pressures from the public.
