The Vancouver Park Board has approved a new pilot program allowing beach-goers to rent out chairs and umbrellas at one of Vancouver’s most popular beaches—English Bay.
The two-year pilot program is being offered by a private company who will rent out the beach equipment by the hour, for a half day or a full day.

They may also provide other common beach activity items, such as water toys and sunscreen.
The program is expected to launch within the next couple of months, just in time for summer.
It will likely be a big hit for tourists or just for those who don’t feel like hauling their beach equipment around with them.
Also new to Vancouver this summer is scooter sharing, and the love lucks sculpture set for Queen Elizabeth Park. An additional pilot program will also allow restaurants to extend patio hours to 1AM.
