Racist Flyers Distributed In Richmond Mailboxes

Richmond residents residing in north Steveston are the latest targets of a racist act in metro Vancouver this year.

Earlier this week, numerous residents found alt-right recruitment flyers in their mailbox featuring the stars of the Chinese flag and a cartoon character laughing beside them.

The flyers read “Step aside, whitey! The Chinese are taking over” in big bold letters followed by a suggestion that white people have been marginalized in the city.

The blurb concludes with a call to action, asking readers to join the Alt-right movement, a label clinched by a faction of U.S. conservatives who support Donald Trump’s most controversial campaign promises.

The Richmond RCMP have launched an investigation into the racist flyers and hope to track down the distributor(s).

“We are currently investigating this incident. We realize that incidents like this have a direct impact on citizens and our community,” Cpl. Dennis Hwangsaid in a statement.

Just last month, flyers promoting the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and bags of white rice were found in mailboxes of residents in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Mission.
