Three Of Playland’s Top Rides Won’t Open For Months

Playland wooden coaster

Vancouver’s favourite amusement park, Playland, opened May 5th; however, fans of its rides may have noticed a few of their favourite attractions missing.

While there will 35 rides to experience, the park has stated that three of its most popular rides will be closed for the next couple of months.

Specifically, Hell’s Gate, Crazy Beach Party and Wooden Roller Coaster will not open this weekend along with the rest of the attractions.

Sadly, these rides are often a huge part of why people visit the park. In fact, the Wooden Roller Coaster was named the #14 Wood Roller Coaster in the world by an ElloCoaster poll. And, it isn’t hard to see why.

With speeds of up to 45 mph on the steepest drop, as well as wild twists, turns and camel hops, it is an incredible thrill. What’s more, it affords over 2,840 feet of track that was built board by board in 1958.

The PNE explains that many of the parts are custom manufactured. As result, they must wait for suppliers to deliver the required parts, and they’ve been slow.

The website states that these rides will not be operational until late June/July; however, a recent update states that they expect the Wooden Roller Coaster will be operational by mid-to-late June.

Don’t forget to check out Adult Only Nights on Fridays from June 22nd to July 27th, Playland is hosting six evenings that will be 19+ amusement. There will be live Djs, alcoholic beverages, midway games, and much more.

You can purchase a One-Day admission or Season Pass online or at retailers. If you buy online, you’ll save up to $5 compared to purchasing at the gate.
