The future of Oakridge Centre has been revealed and it’s safe to say the redevelopments plans will bring major changes to the area. Previously, Ivanhoe Cambridge Inc announced plans included transforming the 56-year-old shopping centre into more of a community, and using all of it’s 11.5 hectare site to help achieve that. Looking at the maps and stats provided, that’s just what they did.
The site heavily increases retail, office and residential space. 13 new towers will rise, with most reaching over 40 floors. This is ironic considering the Vancouver city hall staff recommend that Ivanhoe Cambridge Inc. ask the opinions of the public before preceding, and given the current feedback, majority we’re not in favor of the tall towers.
The thirteen residential buildings will offer 2818 units which will comfort approximately 7,220 new Vancouverites to the Oakridge area. Office space will expand by 401,366 SQ.FT
