Some of the most anticipated summer events have come and gone, but there’s still plenty to do and see this weekend. Whether it’s indulging in mini donuts at the PNE or joining hundreds of zombies takeover downtown, there’s a little something for everyone to check out.

Free | Free Outdoor Yoga At Kits Beach + Riley Park

The daily free yoga classes are organized by Mat Collective. Not to mention, they will feature 1-3 classes each day with a variety of different levels.

Exploration | FraserFEST 2017

FraserFEST 2017 celebrates our watersheds with a series of river adventures and wild salmon feasts in communities along the Fraser River. The festival concludes this weekend on Sunday, August 27th, 2017. Participants learn about the Fraser’s history, culture, the issues threatening its health, solutions for change, as well as how to take action.

Interactive model | OH! Vancouver 2017

There’s a new interactive installation in Vancouver that allows you to control the colours of the city’s skyline. OH! is a small model of Science World that allows you to control the Vancouver monument. It’s open this Friday, August 25th and Saturday, August 26th, 2017. It’s available to use from 9:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. each evening.

Outdoor shopping | Night Markets

The Illumination Night Market, Richmond Night Market, and North Vancouver Shipyards Night Market are all open this weekend. In addition, Fridays on Front, a brand new weekly night market experience in Downtown New West is now open. Fridays on Front will run every Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for eight consecutive weeks on the 600-block of Front Street.

Amusement park | Fair at the PNE

The Fair at the PNE is well underway now and should have you excited. The PNE’s annual summer concert series returns with a star-studded lineup along with all your other favourite activities.

Movie | Dirty Dancing

The Rio Theatre is playing the 1987 hit movie Dirty Dancing on Friday, August 25th, 2017. Tickets are $12 and begins at 9:00 p.m.

Charity | Ride To Conquer Cancer

Starting in Vancouver and going throughout the Pacific Northwest, thousands will bike on Saturday, August 26th and Sunday, August 27th, 2017. The riders will finish at Redmond, Washington.

Yoga | Richmond Pop-Up Yoga In The Park

Yoga in the Park

Richmond is hosting a free pop-up yoga event on Saturday, August 26th, 2017. Put on by The Laughing Buddha Yoga Studio, everyone is encouraged to attend the community event.

Community | Newton Days 2017

The final Newtown Day of the year takes place this weekend on Saturday, August 26th, 2017. Newton Day will be taking over the Newton Grove from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The free event will have a variety of activities to enjoy.

The Vancouver Canadians take on the Boise Hawks this Saturday in a weekend matchup. The game begins at 7:05 p.m.

Feeling dead and alive at the same? The Vancouver Zombiewalk makes its way to the city’s streets on Saturday, August 26th, 2017. The event is presented by Vancouver Improv Anywhere and encourages the human population to play dead – literally. Rip those clothes, dab on that fake blood and create the scariest, wounded face possible. You’ll fit right in with the crowd.

Dance | Swing Dancing in the Street

Dancing in the Street returns this weekend on Sunday, August 27th, 2017 for the final time this season. From 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., head over to the Turntable Plaza just outside the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre for nonstop dance. Free admission is included.
