Here’s When Metro Vancouver Might See Snow This Month

So far, Metro Vancouver hasn’t seen any snow this winter, but that might change.

While B.C. has been unseasonably warm for this time of the year, a recent forecast has revealed that temperatures will be dropping soon. Expect chillier weather and potential snow as a cooler anomaly slides into B.C. later in the week and the next.

Winter In February

The Farmer’s Almanac predicted a warmer-than-usual winter for B.C.. Although, most of the province’s coldest periods have already happened in November and December. The final cold period is expected to come in February. Places like southern B.C. may see above-normal precipitation, as well as flurries.

Meteorologists at Environment Canada also say that “the southwestern British Columbia coast will be near normal” this winter.

Will Vancouver Actually Get Any Snow?

Potentially. Cold air from the Yukon is expected to arrive in the Lower Mainland over the weekend. This will be bringing temperatures down during the night. Daily highs will remain around normal conditions (8°C), and overnight lows will reach 1°C to 0°C.

Most of this week’s weather will be a mixed bag of showers, sunshine, and clouds. But, on Sunday night, Vancouverites should be prepared for a chance of flurries as the temperature will hit a low of 1°C. While it is entirely possible for the flurries to just be rain showers instead, it’s best to be ready.

Snow is more likely to occur at higher elevations, though. For all you skiers and snowboarders, this weekend could be the perfect time to hit the slopes.
