Tilray, a medical cannabis company is in the process of creating 275 new jobs in Nanaimo, B.C.
The news has been welcomed in open arms by many residents on the island due to the recent announcement of store closures by Mexx, Sony, and Target.
According to their website, Tilray is led by a team of PhDs, botanists and master horticulturists that focuses on delivering the benefits of medical cannabis safely and reliably.

The company is in the process of constructing a new facility on the island, and once complete, plan on hiring up to 275 employees, in addition to the 100 employees they currently have.
“They are going to be looking for a wide range of jobs from customer service, janitorial, security as well as — to be expected —the horticultural and cultivating jobs,” says Barbara Davidson, GT Hiring Solutions’ Employment Service Centre Manager.
