Markstrom Lands Deal With Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks are looking to make it back to the playoffs this year, and it looks like they won’t be bringing in a new face to protect their net.

Earlier today, the organization announced that they have signed goaltender Jacob Markstrom to a three-year contract extension.

His new deal is worth US$3.67 million pear year and will run through the end of the 2019-20 season.

During the 2015-216 season Markstrom made huge strides setting career highs in games played (33), and wins (30) showing he is fully capable of starting in the NHL.

Now of course this is Vancouver, and a goalie controversy is always present. Just ask Luongo, Schneider, and Lack.

The Canucks still carry 35 year old Ryan Miller, who is in the second year of a three-year contract worth $18 million. He dealt with his fair share of injuries last year, and the Canucks may want to ride with the younger Markstrom.
