A Vancouver couple is counting their lucky stars after winning $1 million from the January 9, 2026 Lotto Max draw.
Vancouver Lotto Max Draw Winners
Imelda and Ruben P. were just taking their regular walk around the mall right before they learned that they had a winning ticket. It happened at Metropolis at Metrotown when they scanned it and checked the numbers, only to realize that something amazing had just occurred.
Imelda said, “We were at Metrotown when we first scanned the ticket. We were both just so happy!”
The first person the lucky couple told was their daughter. “We sat down to take a break and then we saw our daughter walking by. Ruben whispered to her, ‘We won the lottery!’ Then she started crying,” recalled Imelda.
While Imelda and Ruben aren’t sure what they’re going to do with their prize money just yet, they do plan on helping out family. “We are really happy!” said Ruben, when asked about how it feels to win.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart in Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby.
Other B.C. Winners
In the past year, plenty of B.C. residents have won some amazing prizes. In fact, two of them won on the exact same Lotto Max draw, netting them a combined total of $1.5 million.
Another winner comes from Surrey, who found out about his golden ticket while watching a Canucks game. When he first scanned the numbers, his wife said that he had won only $1,000. But upon closer inspection, it turned out to be $1 million.
“In 2025, B.C. lottery players redeemed more than $248 million from Lotto Max. Lotto Max is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30 p.m. (PST),” says BCLC.
