Good news for those with wanderlust. Icelandair is increasing their current seasonal service by offering a full year-round schedule starting this winter.

By further opening up this market, it also allows Vancouverites to reach other European destinations from Iceland.

“Icelandair began seasonal service from Vancouver on May 14, 2014 and has continued to see increased demand to Iceland and beyond. Our new year-round schedule will offer Vancouverites a refreshing alternative to more than 25 destinations in Europe and we look forward to welcoming you aboard,” said Birkir Holm Gudnasson, Icelandair’s CEO.

Icelandair’s three cabins of service will provide guests with one checked bag, personalized in-flight entertainment options and gate-to-gate WiFi for all passengers.

“I would like to thank Icelandair and our tourism partners for their continued support,” said Craig Richmond, YVR’s President & CEO. “Together, we have laid the foundation for this increased service, which will further develop YVR as a world-class connecting hub by linking our passengers and businesses with an incredible destination—and key connecting hubs in Europe. This means more opportunities for travel, education and business.”

The flight service will continue to be operated by the Boeing 757 aircraft and will depart Vancouver two days a week (Fridays and Sundays). Returning flights will be available Thursdays and Saturdays.

Besides Iceland, there’s plenty of other places to explore from Vancouver. There’s a new non-stop flight service to Melbourne, Orlando, and a daily flight service to Boston.
