It’s relatively rare for us here in British Columbia to be envious of Alberta (particularly during this time of year), but the Ice Castles attraction is undoubtedly going to be an exception.

These “pop-up” ice castles will only be coming to six destinations: Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Utah, New Hampshire, and Alberta.

And these are legit ice castles, so much so that they’ve won awards.

What makes them truly impressive is that they’re completely man-made!

“The experience is built using hundreds of thousands of icicles hand-placed by professional ice artists”, their website says.

Castles are no fun if you’re stuck on the outside looking in, so of course you’ll be able to peek inside. (A very different experience than touring a luxury mansion.)

In addition, the castles also feature many LED-lit sculptures, ice-carved tunnels, an ice throne, as well as a ice slide.

They aren’t in British Columbia, but the only Canadian location is in our neighbouring province, which means it could be a lot worse. (It’s about a 12-hour drive.)

General admission is $13.99 on weekdays, $17.99 on weekends, and the attraction is closed on Tuesdays.
