The Vancouver Giants have announced the firing of coach Lorne Molleken, effective immediately.
The Giants will miss the playoffs for the second straight season as the team has found itself in the bottom of the Western conference. The disappointing season will mark the third time in the last four seasons the team will miss making a playoff run.
This was Molleken’s first season as head coach, who oversaw them go 23-38-5-4.
“We would like to thank Lorne for his time with our club,” said Giants majority owner Ron Toigo. “We wish him all the best in the future.”
Assistant coach Tyler Kuntz has been promoted to Interim Head Coach, as the organization seeks its fourth coach within three years. There’s also speculation that the team plans to leave the PNE Coliseum in Vancouver and move to Langley.
