The Green Men are up for sports fandom greatness.
Vancouver’s dynamic duo of distraction (both under the name Sully O) has been named one of 10 finalists for ESPN’s inaugural Hall of Fans.
The three superfans with the most votes by Aug. 31 will be enshrined at ESPN’s headquarters next month.
“There’s a lot of thought that goes into what we do. Everybody else just puts on a hat or a jersey to a game. I think we’re kind of a different species altogether.”
The Green Men are the only Canadians and the only hockey fans among the finalists.
Wearing the skin-tight body suits was just supposed to be a one-night prank, but Sully said he and his other half, Force, are humbled to know that they’ve started a trend across North America’s sports scene.
NHL players have dressed up in green spandex for Halloween. Countless imitations have popped up in other leagues, and the pair has found themselves on highlight reels and documentaries.
