While everything is expensive inside of the airport, many people didn’t find it fair that feminine hygiene products were so costly for travellers at YVR.
Now, the airport is responding by making these products completely free of charge at information desks within the terminals.
The move comes after the airport was “made aware of a passenger at YVR who had a hard time finding affordably-priced feminine hygiene products at YVR.”
In fact, Vancouver International Airport remarked in a press release that that simply “shouldn’t happen.”
YVR Provides Feminine Hygiene Products
CBC News recently spoke to Kyla Kitzul, who recently traveled from Vietnam through the airport and was astounded to find the exorbitant prices of the products. The young woman was shocked that she was unable to find anything for less then three times the cost outside of the area.
The airport also, “conducted a review of pricing and availability in December for feminine hygiene products at all commercial vendors at the airport to ensure they were charging fair market prices.” As a result, YVR ensures that any vendors who charged inflated prices have dropped them down in accordance with airport standards.
In addition, Vancouver International Airport added that it plans to ensure there are vending machines stocked with sanitary napkins and tampons in every washroom.
