Earls and Chapters, two of the most prominent retailers in the Strawberry Hill Plaza on Scott Road and 72nd are saying their farewells to the complex.
Chapters, which houses a Starbucks inside, made the announcement a few months ago by placing posters along their windows to inform customers that it would be closing doors on February 24, 2016, due to a lease review.
According to the building manager, a Home Sense store will take over the space, which is situated right next to Winners. Both retailers may take out the wall dividing the two and become a massive joint store, similar to the Winners and Home Sense location on Marine Way in Burnaby.
At this time, there’s no word if Chapters will re-open in a different location within Surrey.
Earls, which is located right on the corner of Scott Road and 72nd, has announced it will vacate its current location by March 28, 2016, as it seeks a newer and trendier building.
“With our Surrey location’s lease expiring at the end of March – and the development there not expected to renovate in the near future, we have decided not to renew our lease and instead continue to look for a new location in the area that meets our new design and development goals”
According to a press release, Earls plans to open three additional stores this year.
