Eagle Ridge Hospital Eat Your Heart Out [Review]

 Want to eat at some fabulous restaurants while supporting a good cause? Want a three-course meal for less than $40? Then head out to Port Moody and the Tri-cities to help support Eagle Ridge Hospital by Eating your heart out!

From February 17^th – February 23^rd 6 restaurants in the area have created a special three-course set menu for $35. The money from the dinner helps benefit the hospital directly. The six restaurants participating are: The Boathouse, St. James’ Well, Mr. Mike’s Steakhouse, Onyx Steakhouse, Saint St. Grill, and Browns Social House. I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch event for the fundraiser and tried tasting dishes at the first three restaurants listed.

One our first stop, The Boathouse, myself and other media were treated to a sample of salmon, shrimp, and lobster tail. This was a nice glimpse of what The Boathouse has to offer for their set menu which includes seafood curry, steak tenderloin, salmon or pasta. Of all the places I tried at the launch event, The Boathouse is the one I would most likely return to and experience the full menu because the quality was there. Also, the ambiance of the restaurant is quite romantic with high ceilings and huge glass windows that look onto the ocean.

The next stop on our tour was Mr. Mike’s Steakhouse. If families are looking to enjoy a night out this is a good bet! The atmosphere seemed very relaxed and the restaurant was large and accommodating. No waiting for a table here! I sampled their sirloin steak and house salad. Their set menu includes items such as grilled chicken, salmon, and top sirloin. Mains also include a choice of a topping: prawns, crab, and scallops. For $35 going towards a great cause this sounds perfect for a mid-week dinner!

Our last top on the tour was at a pub called St. James’ Well. This is a great spot for Friday dinner and drinks after work. At this location I sampled a plate of ribs, fries, a crab cake, and a slider. On their Eat Your Heart Out set-menu is beef carpaccio, braised beef, and crab and salmon cakes. Where will you be Friday night?
