A Coquitlam resident was knocked down by an aggressive black bear inside his own home this past weekend.
The attack took place just after midnight early Sunday morning. The Coquitlam homeowner was going inside his garage to work on his car and that’s when he discovered the unwanted guest.

The bear quickly charged at the man before he could even think about what was happening.
He eventually was successful at getting the bear out of the garage. The bear left the man with bruises to his ribs and side.

Conservation officers have set up a bear trap with the hopes of catching the animal. They believe the bear has become too habituated, which may force them to destroy it.
There were nearly a dozen phone calls over the summer about a bear situation within minutes of the latest incident. In September, a Coquitlam family experienced quite the scare when a bear started going through their van that had a child sitting inside.
