A recent Burnaby RCMP traffic sweep saw 40 out of 47 commercial vehicles inspected receive violations tickets. These are startling numbers to say the least.

Day 1 of the joint commercial vehicle initiative took place on Tuesday, August 13th, 2019.

“Day 1 of the joint commercial vehicle initiative saw 47 commercial vehicles inspected, 20 commercial vehicles identified as unsafe to continue and removed from the roadway, 40 violation tickets issued and 149 mechanical defects identified”, reads a Burnaby RCMP tweet.

Day two of the RCMP traffic sweep took place yesterday, August 14th, and saw 33 out of 36 commercial vehicles inspected receive violations tickets. In addition, 36 mechanical defects were identified.

Until August 16th, the Burnaby RCMP Traffic Unit will be working with law enforcement agencies from across the lower mainland to conduct “joint commercial vehicle check stops throughout Burnaby”.

With these kind of numbers in just two days, it’s safe to say there will probably be more to come.
