The winter season is here in full-swing, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it for most of B.C.. If you’re wondering when that cold snap might finally come, we cover everything you need to know about January and February’s forecast.
A General Outlook
General predictions for January and February are that the months will be cold with periods of rain. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, winter will be warmer than normal, with its most of its coldest periods having already passed in November and December. The next coldest period is expected for early February.
Flurries should be expected, but places like southern B.C. may see above-normal precipitation, as well. Overall, this winter is going to be a mixed bag, with some rain, snow, and chilly temperatures.
Winter In B.C.
Meteorologists expect, according to Environment Canada, that “the southwestern British Columbia coast will be near normal” this winter. That means you should definitely have your boots and snow shovels ready, but you shouldn’t have to worry about any freak snowstorms happening. Although, it’s important to remember that these are just predictions, and to always be prepared for any weather events that may occur.
The Farmer’s Almanac notes that southern B.C. in late January could see some snow showers. Although, most of the month will be dominated by chilly yet sunny days. February will be colder with rainy periods in the south and snow in the north.
