Varadero Cuban Cafe


The place to be in Vancouver if you can’t get enough Cuban food. They’re known for their homestyle dishes like Empanadas and Tostones. Dig into Cuban classics, including Ropa Vieja (slow cooked shredded beef in Cuban tomato sauce) and Chilindron de Chivo (braised chunks of goat in tomato sauce). Visit this relatively new cocktail bar in the heart of Mount Pleasant. Sip on classic cocktails: Ay Papi (Brandy, absinthe, cedar berry and rosemary syrup, peychaud bitters, lime, egg white) and Cigar Festival (Bourbon, aged port, mulled spice bitters, Ardbeg mist, maple syrup). Or just get some rum flights. For food, get meat and potato stuffed croquettes or plantain chips with a housemade guacamole. It’s located at 2610 Main Street.




This hot spot on the Drive offers lots of delicious Cuban-inspired eats and cocktails. Order up some Patatas Bravas, Avocado Tostones (a play on avocado toast using fried plantains), coconut mussels, a variety of tacos and a Cubano sandwich. It’s at 1212 Commercial Drive.

El Camino’s


Their Torta Cubano is to die for. It has roasted pork, smoked ham, chipotle dijon, pickles and Swiss cheese. They also have Tostones, cornbread, Camarones and cauliflower wings (just to name a few). Stop by 3250 Main Street to grab a bite.

Las Tortas


Get their Cubano sandwich with pulled pork, ham, Milanesa and Panela cheese. Their menu also has a variety or tortas, tacos and burritos. Check it out at 3353 Cambie Street—one thing is for sure, you won’t leave here hungry!
