Best Comfort Food In Vancouver

Moose’s Down Under

They were voted top comfort food in Vancouver, and for good reason. They have a varied selection of Australian beers and food (and the accents are an added bonus). Whether you’re craving kangaroo on a stick or vegemite and cheese, Moose’s Down Under has it all.

They’re located 830 West Pender Street in Vancouver, and you can find their hours here.

Meet On Main

A new, vegan take on all the satisfying classics, Meet On Main serves up food so good you don’t even miss the meat.

They have a mac n cheez burger, chocolate coconut ganache tarts, artichoke and spinach dip, and more. We could keep listing their dishes, but we can’t guarantee that you won’t have to head to a location by the end of reading them.

They also won the Silver Award for Best Comfort Food in 2017, for the 20th Annual Golden Plates Awards.

They have three locations, 4288 Main Street in Main, 1165 Mainland Street in Yaletown, and 12 Water Street in Gastown. You can find their hours here.

Burgoo

Burgoo originally came about because the creators believed that everyone needs to place to enjoy a little comfort food. They have food from different regions, so everyone can enjoy a little slice of home.

Additionally, they boast a countryside ambience, with warm, earthy tones and natural materials.

They have five locations. Located in Mount Pleasant, Kitsilano, Lonsdale, Downtown Vancouver, and Point Grey, you can find their hours here.

Chewies Steam and Oyster Bar

Chewies was originally started by (and named after) Vancouverite Richard Chew. He had a dream of one day owning his own place that served food he wanted to eat, at a place where he wanted to go.

They have a variety of comforting classics, including fried chicken, cheesy grits, andouille corndogs, and beignettes.

They have two locations, Kitsilano and Coal Harbour. You can find their hours for Kitsilano here, and their hours for Coal Harbour here.

Calabash Bistro

Serving up comforting Caribbean food, Calabash Bistro offers guests a range of dishes. You can take your pick between jerk steamed mussels, fry fish, calabash poutine, or jerk pork belly with coconut dumplings. Yum!

They also offer rum flights, so if you’re feeling adventurous, you can try out their large selection of rum available.

Located at 428 Carrall Street in Vancouver, you can find their hours and more information here.
