Vancouver has a new celebrity admirer and she’s rolling with it.
Actor Heather Graham recently shared her love for the city while filming the upcoming Prime Video series Carrie, a reimagining of Stephen King’s classic horror novel directed by Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, The Fall of the House of Usher).
In an Instagram post, Graham called Vancouver “one of the most beautiful cities” and said she’s “obsessed with the bike path in Stanley Park.” “We shot the Carrie TV series in Vancouver. Have you been? I think it’s one of the most beautiful cities. I’m obsessed with the bike path in Stanley Park,” she wrote, adding, “The food there is good…”
Filming Carrie in Vancouver
Graham stars in the new series from Amazon MGM Studios, adapted from Stephen King’s first published novel. The show follows Carrie White, a socially isolated teenager who develops telekinetic powers while navigating the cruelty of high school and the control of her religious mother.
According to Deadline, young Canadian actor Summer Howell takes on the title role, with Graham joining the cast in June. The series is written and directed by Mike Flanagan, who’s known for his chilling adaptations (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, Doctor Sleep).
Production took place across Metro Vancouver earlier this year adding Carrie to the long list of high-profile series filmed in the region.

From Boogie Nights to Stanley Park
In her post, Graham shared a series of photos from the set, including one that sent fans of Boogie Nights into nostalgia mode.“I’m so excited I got to work with @flanaganfilm and the talented cast and crew on @stephenking’s Carrie for @primevideo. And @flanaganfilm has the original Rollergirl rollerskates from Boogie Nights!!! So I was reunited with my Rollergirl skates as you can see in these photos. Good memories… 🛼🛼💕”
Her post, part behind-the-scenes peek, part Vancouver appreciation, quickly drew attention from fans who loved seeing a Hollywood star embrace the city’s charm.
Graham’s favourite spots? Stanley Park’s Seawall bike path and Vancouver’s thriving food scene. (Honestly, same.)
A Full-Circle Connection: Mike Flanagan and The Park Theatre
There’s also a fitting twist to this story.
Flanagan, the filmmaker behind the new Carrie series, is one of the industry backers who helped save Vancouver’s historic Park Theatre this month. Alongside fellow directors, producers, and the Rio Theatre’s Corrine Lea, Flanagan invested in reviving the Cambie Village landmark that was nearly shuttered for good.
It’s another sign that Vancouver’s film community, both local and international, is rallying to protect the spaces that define its creative culture.
Hollywood North Keeps Winning Hearts
For decades, Vancouver has doubled as countless cinematic worlds, from Gotham City to Riverdale to now, Stephen King’s Carrie.
But beyond its mountain-meets-ocean scenery, the city keeps winning over the people behind the camera.
With its mix of talent, location, and laid-back charm, it’s no wonder stars like Heather Graham fall in love with Vancouver’s food, nature, and creative energy.
And honestly, who can blame them?
