If you thought that Metro Vancouver weather would be warming up for spring, you’re in for a bit of a shock.
Environment Canada just released a Special Weather Statement for the region, and its looking very wet, cold, and tempestuous.
Of course, it may not be as in intense as the snow conditions back in February, but it will still be stormy and cold.
On Thursday, March 22, the forecast calls for 60 percent chance of wet snow over higher terrain. Later in the evening, the forecast calls for snowfall accumulation of 2 cm over higher terrain.
Following this, Friday has a risk of a thunderstorm in the morning and early in the afternoon. Later on, roughly 2 cm or snowfall may accumulate over higher terrain.

Special weather statement in effect for:
- City of Vancouver – including Burnaby and New Westminster
- Metro Vancouver – northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge
- Metro Vancouver – southeast including Surrey and Langley
- Metro Vancouver – southwest including Richmond and Delta
- North Shore – including West Vancouver and North Vancouver
Thunderstorms producing small hail are also possible this afternoon near Vancouver Island, and again on Friday throughout the region, as an unseasonably cold pool of air in the upper atmosphere settles in.
Friday will be a very unsettled day of weather across the South Coast. Look for a mix of sunny periods, showers, flurries or thunderstorms with small hail.
