With free experiences available all across the country and major discounts with VIA Rail, you won’t want to miss out on what the new Canada Strong Pass has on offer.

Canada Strong Pass

In June 2025, the Canada Strong Pass was unveiled. It was described as a way for “Canadians [to] enjoy the very best Canada has to offer.”

It granted access to Canada’s museums, railroads, and camping spots for either free or at a discounted rate.

According to Budget 2026, Canadians really enjoyed the perks the pass offered. Parks Canada sites saw a 13% increase in visits, and national museum attendance grew by an average of 15%. On top of that, VIA Rail ridership jumped by 6.5%.

These results demonstrate how Canadians choosing to explore their own country can help support jobs, local businesses and cultural institutions in communities across Canada. They also reflect the growing interest in Canada’s cultural and natural attractions among visitors from around the world, helping showcase the people, places and experiences that make Canada unique.

What was Included?

Last year, Canadians got tons of perks, such as free visits to museums and parks. Of course, most of the free stuff was for under-18s, but adults were still able to score some freebies and discounts, too. This included:

  • Parks Canada: Free admission for all visitors to national historic sites, national parks and national marine conservation areas administered by Parks Canada; and an additional 25% discount on camping fees.
  • Free and reduced admission at participating museums and galleries for children aged 17 and under. 50% discount for young adults aged 18 to 24.
  • VIA Rail: free travel for children aged 17 and under when accompanied by an adult. 25% discount for young adults aged 18 to 24.

The Canada Strong Pass will be renewed for summer 2027, with more details to be released closer to then. With it, the federal government also announced that it will be granting permanent free access for Canadians under 25 to visit national museums year-round.
