There are plenty of beautiful pictures of Vancouver, but there’s something special about this recent shot that a Canadian astronaut took of our West Coast city recently.

From all the way up on the International Space Station (ISS), this picture is truly one for the history books.
Vancouver from Space
Having served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and with three master’s degrees under his belt, as well as being a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Test Pilot School, Alberta-born astronaut Joshua Kutryk is currently a Flight Engineer as part of SpaceX Crew-13. With the Crew, he will spend about half a year working on Expedition 75.
While he only recently entered the ISS on October 1, after an October 13 press conference held by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), he shared an amazing picture.

“Salut, Vancouver. Hello, Vancouver,” reads Kutryk’s caption.
First Weeks on the ISS
It’s now been a little over two weeks since Kutryk arrived on the ISS. In a post on Facebook, he shows that he’s currently undergoing a fitness check to see how his body is faring after its initial time in space.
“I can still confirm that this, cycling, is one my favourite things to do!” he said.
Expedition 75 will end in spring 2027, after exploring “in-space manufacturing techniques, augmented reality and artificial intelligence methods for crew health checks, and bioprinting human tissue.”
