Transport Canada has just issued a recall notice for Honda drivers. This includes thousands of vehicles that are at an increased crash risk due to software problems.
HONDA RECALL
The recall notice was released on September 15, 2025. The reported issue is due to a software malfunction in certain vehicles that is causing the motor control unit to potentially put the electric power steering system (EPS) into a failsafe mode.
What this means is the car could suddenly require an increase in steering effort. If unexpected, drivers could experience a heightened chance of crashing. Although, the problem does cause the EPS warning indicator to turn on. Thus, there is a visual cue if the situation does occur.

Honda notes that “without power assist, steering effort increases, which may reduce vehicle controllability, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.”
The affected Honda model is the 2025 Acura RDX.
NEXT STEPS
If you are one of the 4,917 affected vehicle owners, then you will be contacted soon by Honda. “Registered owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail this October and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Acura dealer. The dealer will reprogram the EPS memory layout with an improved software.”
If you have a 2025 RDX Acura, keep your eye on your mailbox for that alert.
