British Columbia’s Conservation Officer Service has charged two people after they shared photos of themselves hand feeding B.C. bears.
According to conservation officers, a man and woman were feeding the bears Timbits and hot dogs from their vehicle along the Alaska Highway.
The photos began making rounds on social media and eventually got one of the officer’s attention. As a result, the pair was charged and is scheduled to appear in a Fort Nelson court in November.

Under the Wildlife Act, no person is permitted to intentionally feed or attempt to feed dangerous wildlife.
Once a bear associates people with food, it becomes comfortable with humans and is an immediate threat to the public. As we’ve seen time and time again, this sadly leads to conservation officers destroying the animal.
