A new and improved pedestrian bridge spanning over the Seymour River Canyon is finally opening this Fall. While an exact date is yet to be released, it’s slated to open sometime late November.

The bridge connects Fisherman’s Trail to Twin Bridge Trail where hikers and cyclists frequently visit.

The new development will help improve trail connections after a rockslide hit back in 2014. The rockslide took place just one kilometre north of Riverside Drive where it blocked off part of the Seymour River, causing flooding to the area which closed a number of trails. After that, the original Twin Bridges were removed.

The new bridge is highly-anticipated especially amongst hikers on the North Shore.

Further construction is taking place in the area, including a new vehicular bridge at Riverside Drive and a replacement staircase along the Baden-Powell trail.
