The World Class Bartender of the Year Final was held in Mexico City this year, and one of Vancouver’s own took home the top prize for her skills.

Kaitlyn Stewart is the bar manager at Royal Dinette, a farm-to-table restaurant, located on Dunsmuir Street.

She won the event on August 24, but the process to gain entry was intensive.

Bartender Of The Year Qualifications

Prior to the championships, Stewart competed in a 2-day contest in Toronto beating out 11 other Canadian bartenders.

She is the third Vancouver bartender to represent Canada at the event in the past four years.

“I’m so incredibly amazed and shocked to have been named the world’s best bartender,” Stewart said in a release. “I’ve loved every moment of this experience.”

The Vancouver mixologist beat 55 competitors from across the globe to earn the top spot. She now has the opportunity to judge future events and travel with the event as an ambassador.
