The Vancouver Polar Bear Swim returns to English Bay for the 93rd year!
This event has been a New Year’s tradition ever since Mr. Peter Pantages created the club in 1920.
Anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000 swimmers participate (record to-date 2,246 in 2011) along with 5,000 to 10,000 spectators making it necessary for the Park Board to construct a fenced enclosure for the swimmers.
Though participation is free, you must be registered with the club in order to take a plunge. Registration will take place on Sunday, January 1, 2013 from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in front of the bath house in English Bay,
Anyone up for the challenge?
